Profile on Fall 2011 intern: Rigo Zevada

Rigo ZevadaMCN is very fortunate to benefit from the enthuasism and energy of interns who typically spend a semester working with us.  This semester we have been pleased to welcome Rigo to the Austin office of MCN.  As an intern with MCN, Rigo worked with the Health Network program to contact clinics in different states within Mexico.   Rigo’s contact with these clinics is an important first step in establishing good relationships with tuberculosis programs in Mexico.   In addition, Rigo worked with Adrian Velasquez to help organize data for the Hombres Unidos program.

Rigo is currently pursuing a degree in Human Growth and Development and Family Sciences at the University of Texas at Austin. His goal is to go to a Physician's Assistant school in Texas in the fall of 2012.

Rigo says that what he enjoyed most about working at MCN was the friendly and welcoming staff. He also enjoyed helping people and the process of trying to find the people in charge of programs in Mexico to make lasting connections that will help MCN grow.  Through his work with MCN he also feels like he increased his knowledge of migration and health, particularly in the areas of tuberculosis and diabetes.

MCN is fortunate to have worked with Rigo and wishes him all the best as he moves toward his goal to work in health care.
