[This week, Deliana Garcia, MCN’s Director of International Projects, Research and Development checks in with us from Mexico City, where she presented on TB and migration as part of the TB Coalition of the Americas, a regional subgroup of the Global TB Caucus. Read on to hear Del’s report.]

The Global TB Caucus is an international network of legislators who have united around the common commitment to put an end to tuberculosis. One of the principles on which the Caucus bases its work is the belief that we must work collaboratively with civil society and other interested parties. To that end, each Regional Caucus is initiating advocacy workshops with individual country representatives that will serve as focal points for advocacy efforts. The objectives of the Mexico City workshop are to strengthen communication between civil society and legislators in the fight against TB; understand the processes for creating health related public policies; launch the National TB Caucus of Mexico; and form a TB Coalition of the Americas.

I presented at the advocacy workshop on TB and migration and international organizations such as USAID and the International Union Against TB and Lung Disease. It was a two-day workshop that preceded the launch of the National TB Caucus of Mexico. We were invited as a guest of the Honorable Elias Mejia to conduct the workshop at the House of Representatives. Here are a few photos of the TB Coalition of the Americas meeting.
