Invest in Health on #GivingTuesday

mcn giving tuesday global health network

A patient, Kara, is diagnosed with cancer. Her treatment plan is laid out for her, her appointments are scheduled, and she begins treatment. After just two weeks, Kara announces that she needs to move for work -- despite her ill health, she has kept up working for a local farm, and with the change of the seasons, she and her husband need to keep moving. Even in our modern age, patients like Kara are left without care if they have to move, and health centers don’t have the resources or connections to case manage a migrant patient.

This is what Health Network does- acts as a bridge between locations. When Kara arrived at her new destination, a Health Network associate spoke directly with her to make sure she understood the importance of treatment, got her an appointment at a local clinic that didn’t interfere with her work schedule, made sure she had the transportation to get there, and worked with both health centers to transfer her medical records quickly, so that Kara could continue her cancer treatments without interruption -- and get back to being healthy.

This year, on November 28, #GivingTuesday, we're asking you to invest in health by making a donation to support Health Network or one of our other focus areas, including our efforts in Puerto Rico. Giving Tuesday is a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration. Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving (in the U.S.) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

To serve hundreds of mobile patients, and the clinicians who care for them, each year takes significant resources and your support makes all our work possible. To learn more about how to donate or help with our Giving Tuesday efforts, visit us at http://www.migrantclinician.org/giving-tuesday

Together, we can make a difference.
