HHS Announces $13.4 Million in Financial Assistance to Support Nurses
HHS Deputy Secretary Bill Corr today announced the release of $13.4 million for loan repayments to nurses who agree to practice in facilities with critical shortages and for schools of nursing to provide loans to students who will become nurse faculty. The funds were made available by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), signed Feb. 17, 2009, by President Obama.

The AgriSafe Network Distance Learning Webinars aims to provide appropriate and timely training opportunities for Network members and affiliates. Through partnering with the Natioanl Rural Health Association and the Great Plains Center for Agricultural Health, the Network has been able to offer a series of fantastic speakers using the web-based Elluminate program.

SEARCH (A NHSC program)
Provides health professions students and residents with opportunities to work on interdisciplinary health care teams. Currently, 21 states and U.S. territories offer SEARCH programs, extending a unique, hands-on, primary care training experience working with people in underserved rural and urban areas.
National Hispanic Medical Association
Agenda includes expanding access to quality health care, increasing opportunities in medical education, cultural competence, and research for Latinos. Another focus is policy development and education efforts focused on eliminating health disparities faced by Latinos.
HRSA Nursing Scholarship Program
Program pays tuition, required fees, other reasonable costs and a monthly stipend. Preference is given to qualified applicants with the greatest financial need who are enrolled full-time in an undergraduate nursing program.
