In the absence of a national, evidenced-based testing strategy, decisions regarding the provision of COVID-19 tests for agricultural workers have been left to states, to counties, and, in many cases, to individual farms to manage. Migrant Clinicians Network stands for equitable and accessible testing that will slow the spread of COVID-19 among agricultural workers and rural communities. Agricultural workers, many of whom are immigrant and migrant, are essential workers critical to our food supply and we must work to ensure fair, equitable, and just access to testing and post-test care. Achieving this aim during this pandemic has been challenging for clinicians on the front lines. During this learning session, we will hear from clinicians from North Carolina and Oregon as they share their successes and barriers to testing the farmworkers they serve. We will also introduce MCN’s new testing guidelines along with an algorithm to assist providers as we continue to navigate this pandemic in the months to come.

Jannette Núñez (ella) es gerente de programas de la División de Proyectos Internacionales y Temas Emergentes de MCN, donde trabaja para mejorar la salud y el bienestar de los inmigrantes y las poblaciones móviles a través de servicios clínicos, educativos, así como también, mediante la defensa de derechos. Antes de incorporarse a MCN, Núñez trabajó para el sector gubernamental y para organizaciones sin fines de lucro. Trabajó como asistente ejecutiva de distrito para la Cámara de Representantes de Florida y, posteriormente, como persona de enlace del alcalde y la comisión para la ciudad de North Miami Beach, donde abogaba por la comunicada y creaba iniciativas de salud. Antes de desempeñar sus funciones gubernamentales, Nuñez trabajó como defensora del Refugio de Niños No Acompañados de Americans for Immigrant Justice, apoyando y abogando por los niños inmigrantes no acompañados bajo la custodia de ORR.
Núñez nació y creció en Miami (Florida). Se licenció en Relaciones Internacionales en la Universidad Internacional de Florida. Actualmente reside en Austin (Texas) y cursa un máster en salud pública. En su tiempo libre, le gusta ir de excursión con su cachorro Ace y pasar tiempo con su familia y amigos.
