Camila Velasquez (she/her/ella) moved from Cartagena, Colombia to Miami, Florida with her family at the age of two. At the age of ten, Velasquez and her family had to move back to Colombia due to her father’s expired work visa. At the time she did not understand why she was so different from her peers. Her experiences going through the immigration process at a young age and acquiring citizenship at the age of nineteen put her on the path to becoming an advocate for her community. She graduated from Florida International University in Miami, Florida with a Bachelor’s in Psychology with aspirations of providing services to those in need. Velasquez is a strong mental health advocate which drives her to help the diverse community that surrounds her. In her downtime, she enjoys reading, painting, and hiking.
