MCN staff travel to Puerto Rico for East Coast Migrant Stream Forum

At the 26th Annual East Coast Migrant Stream Forum, MCN will engage with clinicians involved in all aspects of patient care. The forum begins Thursday October 17 and runs through Saturday October 19. Amy K. Liebman, MCN’s Director of Environmental Occupational Health and Deliana Garcia, MCN’s Director of International Projects, Research and Development, will be on hand to offer their expertise through presentations, exhibits, and other events that will help migrant-serving organizations improve the health outcomes of farmworkers. 

Thursday 10/17:

  • 8:00am- COSSMA Health Center Site Visit – Amy Liebman and Deliana Garcia will tour the health center to learn about the services offered, the patient population served, and the clinical practices. 
  • 5:00pm- Clinical Promotora Certification Meeting– In partnership with MHP, MCN’s Deliana Garcia will host an open discussion to emphasize the important role of the Clinical Promotor in health centers across the nation. 

 Friday 10/18:

  • 11:00am- Migrant Health 101: An Introduction to Migrant Health – MCN’s Amy Liebman will join Farmworker Health Network organizations for a presentation covering farmworker basics; their health care needs, and the system  of care that works for them. 
  • 3:00pm- Workers and Health: Successful Strategies from the Field  - Amy Liebman will join Dr. Jose Rodriquez for a presentation that seeks to highlight the health effects of pesticide exposure through case studies and to describe promising practices and resources to better recognize and manage pesticide exposures.

   The East Coast Migrant Stream Forum, hosted by the North Carolina Community Health Center Association, is a regional conference that is dedicated to improving health outcomes and health care delivery to migrant and seasonal farmworkers and their families along the east coast.
