Five on Friday: Reclaiming Puerto Rico's Agricultural History

 

Climate collapse, the border crisis, physician burnout: these are just a few of the topics we cover in our weekly Five on Friday piece. But there’s a growing undercurrent of community, statewide, national, and international actions that chip away at these massive concerns that have assumed seemingly intractable dimensions in recent years. But they rarely make headlines. Today, we introduce the “Weekly Win:” one of our five recommendations each week that celebrates one of the many positive steps we see in health justice each week. Candace shared a new JAMA article, “Association of Perceived Immigration Policy Vulnerability With Mental and Physical Health Among US-Born Latino Adolescents in California.” The researchers found that “reported anxiety statistically significantly increased after the 2016 presidential election, particularly among young people in the most vulnerable families.”
