Health care providers will learn strategies to build trust, communicate effectively, and overcome challenges in health care interactions, thereby improving their ability to treat and prevent HIV.

This webinar will be provided in English with simultaneous interpretation into Spanish.

Renai Edwards began her career as a Peace Corp volunteer in Honduras, which led her to public health. She worked at local, state, national, and international government agencies for over 20 years and now serves as the Director of Training & Technical Assistance at Migrant Clinicians Network. Renai’s focus has been on infectious disease (HIV/STI/TB) prevention, control, and surveillance, and clinician and community training. She is bilingual (English/Spanish), holds a Master's of Public Health degree and Bachelor of Arts degrees in Anthropology and Hispanic Studies.

Rebecca joined Farmworker Justice in Washington, DC in 2010 and currently serves as the Director of Programs. Rebecca engages agricultural worker communities across the country and finds continued inspiration for her work through the stories the agricultural workers and their families so willingly share. Through her work in program management and training and curriculum development, Rebecca works with promotores de salud (health outreach workers) on health content areas like pesticide safety, heat stress prevention, and HIV/AIDS awareness to name just a few. 

Her work in these areas is steeped in the philosophy of popular education which allows for participants of a wide variety of educational, heritage, and linguistic backgrounds to understand and interact with training content in a meaningful and memorable way. Prior to joining Farmworker Justice, Rebecca worked seven years at a language school and bookstore/cafe that catered to after-school projects for kids and literacy projects for women. Rebecca holds a MA in Sustainable Development and Social Justice from the School for International Training and Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology and English from Bowdoin College.

Laura joined Farmworker Justice in 2024 as a Project Coordinator. Prior to joining Farmworker Justice, Laura helped develop The Humans Who Feed Us campaign and led the Essential Ohio Coalition while working with Justice for Migrant Women. Laura became passionate about supporting migratory and low-paid women while working as a tenant advocate in Cincinnati, Ohio. Laura leveraged her background and Spanish language skills to help underserved community members secure affordable and safe housing.

Laura is passionate about community organizing, history, and education. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in History.
