Support Climate Preparedness through Children’s Environmental Education in Puerto Rico

The climate crisis is the megaphone of inequities: it amplifies preexisting vulnerabilities and bears down the hardest on those already struggling.

In Puerto Rico, we have seen again and again that isolated members of our communities – due to geographic remoteness, language, culture, immigration status, poverty, medical issues, or social disconnection – are unaccounted for after climate-fueled disasters.

Children in these isolated, low-income, underserved communities are especially vulnerable as these climate disasters impact their education, health, and safety.

You can reduce the impact that climate disasters have in perpetuating poverty and other inequities by donating to Migrant Clinicians Network.

Your donations provide environmental education for middle and secondary students from isolated communities in Puerto Rico. Children learn about health and safety issues related to the environment and disaster preparedness to raise awareness and increase knowledge, followed by activities to foster critical thinking and problem solving, and ultimately move toward decision-making, action, and stewardship -- to further build community disaster preparedness.

Why donate to Migrant Clinicians Network?

  • Our track record on climate justice. Our early efforts in climate mobilization over the last five years have equipped numerous towns with practical action and communication when disaster strikes to make sure migrants and other vulnerable community members aren’t left behind – and it works. Our work has even been recognized as a finalist in EcoAmerica’s American Climate Leadership Award. Read more about our projects and research on our Climate Justice page.
  • Our expertise on building health justice. We bring almost 40 years of working with and for migrants, immigrants, and many other underserved communities in Puerto Rico and across the US, and we support the education and well-being of the clinicians who serve them. Learn about our history and impressive impact on Our Story page.
  • Our fiscal responsibility. We know how to efficiently move your donation into action on the frontlines. That’s why we have a high rating on Charity Navigator, a Platinum rating on GuideStar, and are Top-Rated on GreatNonprofits.
