Dr. George F. Davis is a physician and ethicist. He graduated from Harvard College and then Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. Pediatric residency followed, but he switched to general family medicine. He has practiced in New York State for the last 37 years, associated with Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson, New York. During that time, he worked with the local migrant health program, associated with the Peekskill, NY Community Health Center. Along the way, life experiences led him to develop a specialty in Palliative Care and medical clinical ethics. He started his ethics training in 1994 at the Kennedy Institute of Ethics in Washington, D.C. He went on to get a Masts degree in bioethics in 2004 from Union University in Schenectady, New York in association with Albany Medical Center in Albany, New. York. He has extensive experience in clinical ethics consultations. From 2001 to 2007, he consulted with Doctors of the World in New York City to do medical examinations on refugees from around the world seeking asylum in the United States. During those same years, he was on the board of directors at MCN and served as chair of the board in 2006 and 2007. Since moving to Venice, Florida in 2017, he started Advanced Illness Crisis Guidance, PLLC, a consulting enterprise to guide families and medical care teams out of crisis due to complex and conflicted communications and decision-making.
