Five on Friday | June 30, 2017: Williams Unified helps students graduate, and Libya's deadliest route

MCN Five on Friday

Fourth of July weekend is upon us!  As we celebrate Independence Day this coming week, let’s toast to the work that we do collectively as clinicians and advocates to serve the marginalized portions of our society -- in hopes of bringing a brighter, healthier, more equitable future to all people living in this incredible country of immigrants.

  1. Jillian, Director of Education and Professional Development, was thrilled to see her local NPR affiliate in Chico, California broadcasting a story entitled, “Williams Unified Summer School Program Helps Migrant Students Graduate.”

  2. Ileana shared the New York Times report from Senegal, “Why Migrants Keep Risking All on the ‘Deadliest Route

  3. Corey, Communications and Graphic Designer, shared a news article on One Community Health’s increase of health services to mobile agricultural workers in the Hood River, Oregon region.

  4. Candace, Specialist in Clinical Systems and Women’s Health, recommended the “60 MiNueTs” video series, a muppet-style take on 60 Minutes, featuring short reporting by the UCSF Program on Reproductive Health and the Environment. Start with “Toxic Bodies,” on childhood and in utero exposure to toxic chemicals.

  5. Amy, Director of Environmental and Occupational Health, sent on this update: “Ohio passes workers’ comp budget bill; undocumented workers covered.”

Be safe this weekend!
